What’s in Your Christmas Stocking?

10 Must Have Self-Care Stocking Stuffers

As we ponder what gifts we are getting family and friends this season, don’t forget the stocking stuffers. When I was a kid, I would get so excited about what my mother would put in our stockings. Of course, there would be the necessities like a toothbrush, chap stick, and hair scrunchies (things I appreciate a great deal more today), but she would also put handheld games, McDonald’s coupons for soft serve ice cream, coloring books and markers. Don’t get me wrong, I looked forward to what was under the Christmas tree, but the stocking stuffers were always a delight.

Fast forward, it’s 2020, and I’m searching for stocking stuffers. As an advocate for self-care and the need to keep self-care tools affordable and accessible, I am giving you a list of 10 self-care stocking stuffers for your family and friends (there’s something for all ages).

What’s in your Christmas stocking?
  1. Hand Cream – As we are washing our hands frequently the need for moisturizer has increased. If you can find hand cream with eucalyptus or lavender that’s an added bonus for stress reduction.

2.Travel Charger – Our phones are mobile computers and battery life is essential. So, why not stay ready so you don’t have to get ready (sound Suga Free, never mind). Gifting a travel charger will ensure that your loved one will be able to connect when needed.

3. Lip Gloss – Glosses come in so many colors and offer transparency that lipstick doesn’t provide. Gloss is great for everyday use as a moisturizer and hydration with easy application. Also, lip gloss is perfect whether it’s for your daughter, wife or mother. Shoot… grab them all some!

4. Book Light – As you wind down your evening, reading helps to focus and settle the mind. To prevent having to get up to turn the light off, a book light is the perfect anecdote.

5. Travel Fragrance – While you’re engaging in social self-care or me time, travel fragrances are perfect. Stuff this must have in your luggage when you are jet setting, enjoying a staycation or just to put in your handbag for lighter travel and to ensure that you smell good on the go.

6. Mini Shots – For the adults on your list, their favorite libations are great additions to the stocking stuffer. Cheers to the family and the holidays. Drink when feeling good, not to feel good.

7. Socks – This time of year you can find cool fuzzy socks. Imagine your loved one taking in some me time to a classic holiday movie, a cup of tea and relaxing.

8. Pen – You can’t live without them. As we are working from home and planning out our new year, organization will be key. Pens make perfect stocking stuffers. No one ever knows where all the pens went. Now, everyone on your list will have one. No excuses!

9. Pocket Devotional/Journal – So you have a pen. What are you going to write on? You guessed it. A journal or devotional is the perfect way to promote reflection and practice mindfulness.

10. Money/Gift cards/Stocks – Listen… you can never go wrong with money. Money can be used for a meal for any of the self-care components whether the money is saved for another day or used to buy something special.

I know there is an endless list of things that can go in a stocking. In fact, here’s a few more: candy, hand sanitizer, face mask (let’s stay safe in this season), luggage tags, and cuticle oil. You get the picture. Now, get to moving! You only have 13 more days to get it done. Happy shopping! Happy stuffing! Happy Holidays and #takecare.
